Uno spaccato della tipologia di persone che la chiesa attrae ad oggi, il "pellegrino moderno". Una serie di volti, ognuno segnato dalla sua storia (e dai suoi peccati!) tutti in viaggio in terra santa per trovare la stessa indulgenza. Le scarpe, il simbolo del pellegrinaggio, mostrano il contrasto tra un viaggio spirituale universale e la realtà materiale dei singoli individui.
On the opening day of the extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy people of all kind and from all over the word come visit the Vatican. A series of portraits depicting what might be called the "modern pilgrim."
On each face we can observe the marks of its personal history and intimate sins, traveling to the Holy Land to find the same all-desired indulgence. The shoes, a symbol for the pilgrimage, show the contrast between the spiritual journey and the material actuality, between the universal and the individual.
